An estimated 55,000 runners from all over the world showed up bright and early this morning with numbered bibs secured to their chests and running sneakers laced to run the TCS New York City Marathon.

While many wore the expected sporty tank top and shorts ensemble to complete the impressive 26.2 mile-race, others wanted to make sure they stood out to the 2 million spectators hootin’ and hollerin’, cheering them on behind police barricades throughout the five boroughs.

Only in NYC will you find people painted green to represent the Statue of Libery or wearing a crown of soon-to-be extinct metro cards.

Here are some of the wildest, wackiest and most spirited outfits spotted running the NYC Marathon.
