Ray J and Brandy’s mom will not tolerate haters — especially when they take aim at her kids.

“I hope each of you had a grateful Thanksgiving. The day started a little rough, but we had a good family Thanksgiving. Love ya’ll, we’re back on the road tomorrow,” the singers’ mom, Sonja B. Norwood, wrote via Facebook on Thursday, November 27, in honor of the holiday. “Detroit! See you soon!”

The proud mom — who is currently on tour with her daughter and singer Monica — finished her post with a heart emoji and the hashtags #familyfirst and #TheBoyIsMineTour.

“You raised a terrible son,” one person wrote in the comments section, referring to Ray J, real name William Ray Norwood, Jr. “Happy Holidays!”

Rather than delete or ignore the comment, Sonja decided to engage. “Sorry, but I don’t think so,” she wrote back.

“You think pulling guns and tossing women in pools is a good representation of the man you raised,” the commenter responded. “Well, I hope I do better by mine.”

Ray J, 44, was arrested Thursday morning after his ex-wife, Princess Love, called authorities and claimed he pointed a gun at her during an argument that took place via livestream. According to KTLA, officers arrived at the 20000 block of Birmingham Way in Los Angeles around 3:55 a.m. Thanksgiving morning.

Love also told police Ray J has an alleged history of domestic violence.

Us Weekly confirmed that the singer was in custody in a Los Angeles-area jail after being arrested and booked on suspicion of making a criminal threat. His bail was set at $50,000. As of Saturday, November 29, it does not appear he is still in custody.

Troubling footage from the event in question was shared via social media. The clip begins with Ray J saying, “Y’all wanna drive drunk? Y’all wanna drive drunk? Drive drunk. Drive drunk, Princess,” before Love interjects, “Ray, you just pointed a gun–”

“Drive drunk, princess. Go ahead,” Ray J also says. “You wanna take my kids? You and your drunk cousin? Cuz y’all drunk at the alcoholics? Take my kids then, go ahead. Who’s gonna drive? Tony, he’s been drinking too.”

“You pointed a gun at us, you pointed a gun at us,” Love continues. She later adds, “Ray, you’re a woman abuser.”

“That’s what a drunk [person] always say. Like, you taking my daughter?” Ray J replies.

The pair, who documented the early years of their marriage on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, married in August 2016 and have since filed for divorce four separate times. Love most recently filed for divorce in February 2024. They share daughter Melody Love, who was born in May 2018, and son Epik Ray, who joined the family in January 2020.

Love filed for divorce from Ray J for the first time in May 2020. That request was dismissed in July 2020, but Ray J filed for divorce months later in September 2020 before dismissing his request in March 2021. The singer filed again in October 2021 and was granted a dismissal in March 2023.

“It is in the best interest of both of us to part ways,” Love explained via Instagram in February 2024 after filing for divorce for the fourth time. “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
