Who Is Hilary Swank’s Husband Philip Schneider? Inside Their Marriage After Alleged LAX Encounter

Hilary Swank can always count on her husband, Philip Schneider, to be there for her through thick and thin.

The actress and the businessman got married in 2018 and expanded their family five years later with the arrival of their twins, Ohm and Aya.

“I have to say — he’s great,” Swank told People about her husband in June 2019. “It took a long time to get the right guy. I kissed a lot of frogs before getting here. There’s not anything I would really change about him.”

The Million Dollar Baby actress also divulged some details about their intimate nuptials.

“Everyone was quiet. We didn’t have any mobile phones at the ceremony so people could really be in the moment,” she told the outlet. “It was just magic and very moving.”

How Did Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider Meet?

Swank and Schneider met one night through mutual friends, and the rest was history.

“It was a blind date set up by actor Misha Collins’ wife, Vicki, and another close friend, Jean. We met at 10 a.m. and parted ways at 11 p.m.,” Swank told Vogue in August 2018. “We clearly enjoyed our time!”

Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider Got Engaged in Colorado

The couple dated for a year and a half before Schneider popped the question during a Colorado vacation in 2016.

“We stumbled upon a beautiful sanctuary deep in the mountains,” Swank told Vogue. “It had a stunning waterfall that cascades down to rustic cabins built in the 1800s surrounded by beautiful pines and big skies. One evening, Philip dropped to his knee in front of the waterfall and proposed — he sweetly made sure my dogs were nearby so they could bear witness!”

Swank and Schneider tied the knot two years later. The Alaska Daily actress was previously married to Chad Lowe from 1997 to 2007.

Swank announced her pregnancy on Good Morning America in October 2022. She was 48 years old at the time.

“This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m gonna be a mom,” she said during the TV appearance. “And not just of one, but of two. I can’t believe it.”

Swank announced she had given birth to her twins via an April 2023 Instagram post, sharing a photo of her holding them while watching a sunset.

“It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it. 👼🏼🤍👼🏼,” she captioned the picture. “Happy Easter! 🐣🐣 Posting from pure Heaven. 🙌🏽.”

The following year, Swank opened up about how much her life had changed since she and her husband welcomed their babies.

“Everything is new again,” she explained during a December 2024 appearance on Today. “You hear that, but until you experience it you’re like ‘What does that even mean?’ But now I know.”

Swank made headlines in December 2025 after a woman named Jada Bafus claimed she had a rigid encounter with the actress at LAX airport. Bafus explained to Daily Mail she was on her way to taking her two sons on a Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyland when Swank allegedly accused Bafus of taking a photo of her and her twins without her consent.

Bafus claimed Swank said, “I hope you enjoy that picture,” before she “stormed off a little bit.” She said Swank later reached out to her via Instagram to apologize, explaining that she did not want her children to be photographed.

“I did not expect Hilary Swank to directly talk to me,” Bafus said. “It was just, like, ‘Whoa.’ I was taken aback.”
