Mel Gibson’s Family Includes 9 Kids With 3 Women: Meet the Actor’s Children and Their Mothers

Mel Gibson has been honest about parenting through the years.

The actor is the father to nine kids with three exes, and admittedly made some mistakes while raising his seven sons and two daughters.

“As a parent, everybody screws up,” Gibson said during a 2016 interview. “There’s no such thing as a perfect parent and it’s so easy to mess up. But hopefully I’ve screwed up less than most.”

Gibson’s quote came just before his ex Rosalind Ross gave birth to the actor’s youngest son, Lars, in January 2017. Gibson and Ross were together for nine years before they announced their split in December 2025.

“Although it’s sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible,” the former couple shared in a joint statement to People at the time.

Robyn Moore

Gibson married his first wife, Robyn Moore, in 1980, three years after they met. The former couple welcomed seven kids during their marriage, which came to an end in 2006. Moore filed for divorce in 2009 and their marriage officially ended two years later.

Hannah Mae Brobst

Gibson and Moore welcomed their eldest child, Hannah, in November 1980. She has worked behind-the-scenes on several of her father’s movies throughout his career, including The Patriot and What Women Want.

Hannah married guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd in 2006 and they share six kids.

Christian and Edward Gibson

Gibson and Moore’s twin sons, Christian and Edward, were born in June 1982. Christian is currently a camera operator in Los Angeles. Edward, meanwhile, has not followed in his family’s footsteps and stays out of Hollywood. Instead, Edward, owns a company called Natural Edge — based in Los Angeles — and makes furniture out of reclaimed wood slabs imported from Fiji.

Will Gibson

Gibson continued to expand his family with Moore by welcoming son Will in 1985. He keeps more of a private life, staying out of the public eye despite his famous family.

Louie Gibson

Three years later, Gibson and Moore welcomed Louie. He has since kicked off a film career, directing several horror films.

Louie married actress Annet Mahendru in 2016 after she appeared in one of his movies.

Milo Gibson

Milo, who was born in November 1990, has followed in his father’s footsteps and decided to become an actor. (He was previously a massage therapist and electrician.)

“It’s very scary to make that change,” Milo told People in 2017 of his acting career. “But one day it hit me that I don’t want to turn 50 and regret not trying something I have a passion for.”

Thomas Gibson

Gibson and Moore welcomed their youngest son in April 1999. He has opted to keep his life out of the public eye following his parents’ divorce.

Oksana Grigorieva

Following his separation from Moore, Gibson moved on with Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva. They were together for about a year and welcomed one daughter together.

Following their 2010 split, Grigorieva and Gibson went through a period of ups and downs, including a lengthy legal battle after Grigorieva accused her ex of domestic violence. Despite denying her claims, Gibson was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and by March 2011 pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge. Gibson and Grigorieva settled their legal battle by August of that year.

Lucia Gibson

Gibson and Grigorieva welcomed their daughter, Lucia, in October 2009. Grigorieva has continued to give updates on her teen daughter via Instagram.

Rosalind Ross

Gibson kicked off his relationship with Ross in 2014. The actor welcomed a son named Lars with the former equestrian champion years before their December 2025 split.

Gibson and Ross’ son was born in January 2017.
