A man who tried to jump from a freeway overpass in Los Angeles was saved in the nick of time by a group of rescuers in a miracle effort that was caught on video.
More than a dozen officers can be seen responding to a call of a possible suicide attempt near the 10 Freeway and Santa Anita Avenue in the City of El Monte, according to an Instagram post from the LA County Sheriff’s Transit Service Bureau.
“The call indicated a male Hispanic adult suffering from injuries to his neck and wrist,” the post read.
“Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with responding medical personnel, the California Highway Patrol, and El Monte Police Department, successfully bringing the individual to safety from the overpass.
Heart-stopping video of their rescue showed the man dangling from the freeway overpass before various members of law enforcement were able to place a strap around his body and pull him to safety.
The Transit Service Bureau said that its Mental Evaluation Team also responded and provided support to the man.
Commenters on the video thanked emergency responders for rushing to the man’s aid.
“Thank you to all the heroes for saving this man’s life. God bless you all. Also may this man find peace and love,” one wrote.
“Everyday heroes at work!!” another added.
Others used it as an opportunity to call attention to the man’s struggles.
“Mental health is real, he’s going through something,” a commenter wrote.
“Please check on your family and friends folks. This isn’t a joke,” a second said. “People seriously struggling out there. Praying and praying for this person.”
