The host of popular Southern California radio show used the power of the airwaves to find his wife’s stolen car.
KROQ’s Kevin Klein, co-host of Klein/Ally Show, revealed live on air Wednesday that his wife’s car had been snatched from the front of their home that morning. So he called on his listeners to help, using the show as a real-time command center to track down the missing vehicle.
After checking the car’s recent GPS activity, which showed its last parked location, Klein broadcast the address to his army of listeners and asked if anyone was in the area.
Fans then sprang into action, locating the unmanned Range Rover near Koreatown.
“A couple of listeners were hanging out on the street blocking the car so it didn’t get moved,” Klein told The Post, adding that he didn’t even bother to call police.
The fans stood guard until Klein’s wife arrived with her keys and simply drove the car home. The case was closed before his morning show had even ended.
“It was kind of incredible how quickly and how many people helped track it down,” Klein told The Post.
While security footage at his house didn’t record the theft, Klein suspects thieves took the Range Rover around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday because his dog started barking around that time.
There was no exterior damage to the vehicle. But the thieves had ripped into the roof to take out GPS tracking wires, apparently after Klein had clocked its last-known coordinates.
While the ordeal caused a headache, it wasn’t all bad. The car’s gas tank was nearly empty when it was stolen, but fully filled when it was recovered.
The family has since cleared out some boxes in their garage to make space for the vehicle instead of parking it on the street. Klein’s wife also had her car stolen in early 2025.
“It’s LA,” the host said on his show. “You haven’t lived here long enough if you haven’t had your car stolen at least twice.”
