Long Island elementary teacher arrested after undercover sting allegedly exposed his sexting of girl, 13

The now-suspended Long Island elementary school teacher caught sexting someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl was arrested on Friday, police said.

Mark Verity, 37, was charged with trying to send sexual messages to a minor and attempting to involve the child in a sex act after getting caught up in a sting operation run by Predator Poachers Long Island.

Verity, a music teacher at Wading River Elementary School, was taken into custody following a two-day investigation sparked by the vigilante group’s viral video confrontation — in which the married dad of two allegedly admitted to the sick exchange.

Suffolk County police confirmed Verity’s arrest and said the case remains under investigation.

The school district said Verity was removed from the classroom and barred from school grounds pending the outcome of his criminal case.
