The Sister Wives stars initially planned to build a quartet of homes in Flagstaff, Arizona, on land informally called Coyote Pass — but three relationship breakups threw a wrench in that plan starting in 2021.

Kody Brown and his then-wives moved their polygamist family from Utah to Arizona in 2018. Kody wed Meri Brown in 1990, several years before he “spiritually married” Janelle Brown in 1993 and Christine Brown in 1994, respectively. Kody and Meri divorced in 2014 so that he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and adopt her three children from a previous relationship.

As Kody has children with each of his spouses, the plan was for everyone to live on the Flagstaff acreage. The construction plans, however, were derailed after Kody’s respective breakups from Christine in 2021, Janelle in 2022 and Meri in 2023.

The Brown family drama over their Flagstaff, Arizona, property has officially come to an end. Sister Wives stars Kody Brown, Robyn Brown, Meri Brown and Janelle Brown have each sold their shares of their 14-acre property, known as Coyote Pass, multiple outlets have reported. The land, originally purchased in 2018, was reportedly sold for $1.5 […]

It took about two years for Kody and his exes to agree on how to sell the land — and on who got what — with the sale going through in April 2025 for a reported $1.5 million.

Christine Gifts Stakes to Kody for $10

After Christine broke up with Kody, she sold her shares of the deed back to Kody and Robyn for $10.

“For the consideration of Ten Dollars, and other valuable consideration, I or we, Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife and Christine R. Brown, a single woman do/does hereby convey to Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife the following real property situated in Coconino County, Arizona,” the deed read.

Janelle Wanted Out

The dispute over the Coyote Pass ownership reached a fever pitch after Janelle and Kody separated. She wanted her ex-husband to buy her out of her portion and use the earnings to move out of Arizona.

“I’ll be honest, I’ve thought about screwing her. OK, so I’m being honest, but I won’t,” Kody said of Janelle during a December 2024 episode. “My wife with a conscience, [Robyn], won’t let me.”

Meri’s Shares Were Smaller

Meri was designated to have ownership of fewer parcels.

“I’m only legally one-third owner of one of the four parcels, so I own the least amount of property,” she said on the show in December 2024.

Kody and Robyn have two plots, with one initially designated to them and the other gifted from Christine. Janelle also shared a plot with Kody and another with both Kody and Meri.

“I don’t understand why the property got divided the way that it did,” Meri at the time. “I was not involved in that process. I was just told about it after the fact.”

One month later, Meri claimed on the show that Kody initially promised her two acres.

“His whole big thing then was I would get two acres,” she told her friend Jen in a January 2025 episode. “He’s like, ‘Well, you don’t need as much because you don’t have as many kids.’ … Kody has actually said this: ‘Because I only have one child, I am not entitled to an equal portion of the property.’” (Kody and Meri share Leon.)

Kody, meanwhile, didn’t want to argue about dividing the assets since he has “18 kids to take care of” and the rest was “water under the bridge.”

Robyn and Kody Had Differing Perspectives

Robyn was initially against selling the land.

“I love Coyote Pass. I always have,” she said in a January 2025 episode. “It’s hard to think of letting it go.”

According to Kody, he went back and forth about keeping the property. He also claimed that Robyn “knows we need to sell it” despite a personal pull to keep hold of the land.

“Every time I’m at a Coyote Pass, I’m just, like, my heart aches,” Robyn said. “I [just] see the vision that I’ve always imagined, all of the space and the houses. It’s just been so difficult and so sad with the family. I know everybody just wants out of the pain.”

Robyn Thought She Was ‘Betraying’ the Family With Sale

“When we bought Coyote Pass, it was the dream for the family to be out there and I was very much like, ‘this is our family’ and was very invested and wanted so much for us to be out there,” Robyn said during the January 2026 Sister Wives: 1-on-1 reunion when asked why selling felt like “betraying” the plural family.

She explained, “When I married Kody, I was 1,000 percent in. It was all about us being together as a family and I saw us out there. And so it was really hard for me to give up on it, even though everybody else was.”

Janelle claimed “that’s bulls***” when she heard Robyn’s logic behind not wanting to sell the land.

“I think that’s what she thinks [is] the role she has to play. I sometimes think she says what she thinks she should say because I don’t think she really feels like that,” Janelle argued.

Christine Has Zero Regrets on Giving Her Land to Kody and Robyn

Christine said during part 1 of the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 episode in January 2026 that leaving Coyote Pass for Kody to deal with after their split was “without a doubt” the “best thing” she could’ve done.

“That was the best decision I could have made when I left. Like, leaving was great, but deciding to just cut ties financially, everything with Kody, yes, that was 100 percent the best decision ever,” she added.

Property Distribution Drama

Kody claimed during the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 in January 2026 that Janelle told him “we can’t trust Meri” when they initially only put her name on one parcel of the property. He alleged that since Janelle was the “manager of [our] books,” she was the one who “said this is how this should be.”

“Janelle plays me all the time because I loved her and might still and I want her approval,” Kody claimed.

Breaking Down the Alleged ‘Backdoor Deal’

During season 20 of Sister Wives, which aired in 2025, Kody claimed he jokingly thought about doing a “backdoor deal” with Janelle to sell the land without Meri or Robyn signing off. Janelle, however, claimed there was no such discussion — but she did talk to her lawyers, who told her “you might want to consider just trying to get the sale to go through” with or without Meri on board.

“Janelle’s like, ‘You can force the sale.’ She’s really misrepresenting [me] because it wasn’t my idea. Janelle came to me with the idea you can force the sale on this and then started pressuring me,” Kody alleged during the January 2026 reunion special.

He confessed that he had “a temptation only for a moment” to do a deal without Meri, calling it “backstabby of Janelle.”

Although Janelle denied Kody’s account of what transpired before the sale, Meri admitted during the reunion that she thought “Kody and Janelle were trying to kick me out somehow.”

Confidentiality Agreement Causes Delays

During the January 2026 Sister Wives reunion special, Janelle alleged that the first offer they received on Coyote Pass was ruined because of a last-minute confidentiality clause Robyn allegedly insisted on.

“Robyn pops up and says, ‘Oh, I’m not going to do it unless you guys sign this confidentiality agreement,’” Janelle claimed, noting the agreement would mean “Meri couldn’t take any more action for her to get her money back.”

She recalled the confidentiality agreement sending her and Meri “scrambling,” calling it a “total power play” by Robyn. As a result, Janelle said the initial offer fell through.

Meri remembered a similar experience, claiming the confidentiality agreement was “all about silencing” her.

“They didn’t want me to talk and I could not figure out why. So when they say, ‘Meri was stopping it, Meri was stopping it.’ Damn right I was,” she said. “Because I’m not going to be f***ing silenced again. I will not be silenced anymore. And I don’t think that [Kody] likes that.”
