Kim Basinger enjoyed a multigenerational girls’ weekend with her daughter, Ireland Baldwin.
“Stills from the weekend,” Baldwin, 30, captioned a Thursday, December 18, carousel of Instagram photos from a recent getaway to Timberline Lodge in Oregon.
In one snap, Basinger, 72, and Baldwin went on a hike with the model’s 2-year-old daughter, Holland.
Baldwin, who gave birth to her first baby with boyfriend RAC (real name André Allen Anjos) in May 2023, is Basinger’s daughter with ex-husband Alec Baldwin.
“Alec and I have a great relationship. I have great respect for where he is today, and his family,” Basinger told Variety in a February profile, referring to Alec’s seven children with wife Hilaria Baldwin. “We don’t spend Christmases and holidays or see each other very much, but we talk.”
She continued, “He’ll pick up the phone and call me, and we have a very genuinely cordial and I think loving relationship in a lot of ways, just because we share a daughter, and I don’t wish him anything but everything good.”
Basinger and Alec, 67, were married from 1993 to 2000, after which the actress primarily raised Ireland as a single parent.
“[My mother] taught me so many lessons about so many things that I use now and have taught my own daughter,” Basinger recalled of raising Ireland during an Interview magazine profile in 2024. “A lot of it went unspoken. When you are a family that has five kids — and usually there were two others living with us or staying with us — there is a lot to be done.”
According to Basinger, she wasn’t raised in “a privileged family.”
“I mean, to me, we always had everything we needed,” she recalled. “We weren’t wealthy people. My dad worked very hard for the money he made, and my mom worked very hard to keep this household up and running and all the kids fed and everything.”
Growing up for Ireland, however, wasn’t exactly the same and often felt isolated.
“I had a lonely childhood at times, which is why I grew up feeling like I needed to win over certain people in my own family,” Ireland wrote in a Substack essay published in October. “For whatever reason, their validation and praise was meaningful to me. Nothing was more freeing than finally realizing how poisonous these people are.”
Ireland added, “I inch into my 30s with an understanding that this is how you break these cycles. My daughter doesn’t have to know these people, and I can protect her from them. I can do my very best to construct my own idea of a family, piece by piece. And show how a real family treats one another.”
Ireland and Basinger now enjoy their low-key outings with Holland, whom Basinger told Variety earlier this year is her “tiny, tiny, little angel.”
Alec, for his part, primarily lives on the East Coast with Hilaria and their younger children, though a move could be in their immediate future.
“We don’t want to raise our kids in the Hamptons anymore,” Hilaria, 41, told Gurus magazine in a profile published on Tuesday, December 16, contemplating leaving New York with her brood in tow. “We’re considering L.A. It’s all about fresh energy — a reset.”
