PETA Reacts to Erin Andrews’ Viral Faux Fur Coat at Playoff Game: ‘That’s How You Serve a Showstopping Look’

PETA is calling Erin Andrews’ viral fur coat a winning play straight out of the style playbook.

When the NFL reporter, 47, hit the sidelines wrapped in a luxe faux fur piece by AUTER at the San Francisco 49ers-Philadelphia Eagles matchup on Sunday, January 11, the animal rights nonprofit organization said it was a touchdown for cruelty-free fashion.

“That’s how you serve a showstopping look without harming animals 👏✨ Love that this coat is faux! 🙏” a statement from the official PETA account on X read in response to a post from ML Football, which shared a clip of her viral moment: “TRENDING: Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews went viral for her wild coat during the pregame show today. 🤯🤯🤯 Crazy fur coat.”

Several social media users sounded off about the look that continues to command attention.

“She looks incredibly chic, elegant and sophisticated and fabulous, like a European countess!” one person commented. “I’d f***ing kill for that coat. I can’t focus on what Erin Andrews is saying because I’m mesmerized by her coat,” another social media user posted via X.

“It’s giving Cruella,” a third wrote, lightly roasting Andrews.

Andrews was rocking the $950 FOX JACKET from AUTER in the Smoke Noir color, a bold smoke-and-black palette. The coat is equipped with a mid-length silhouette, a fully lined interior and discreet fabric-wrapped hook-and-eye closure.

The item quickly sold out and is now on preorder for a shipment date of April 2026. Sizes range from XS to L. There is also another color that is on preorder: Sand Noir, a cream-and-black palette.

On the brand’s website, the coat is described as a “refined statement piece in plush faux fur, defined by a sculptural oversized shawl collar.” The fit and feel is “warm yet lightweight,” and “this jacket drapes softly around the frame with a relaxed, enveloping shape.”

Furthermore, “the plush texture adds depth and structure while maintaining fluid movement.”

After her viral style moment, Andrews reposted a photo of herself on the sidelines via Instagram Stories, tagging the clothing brand, stylist Daniela Viviana Romero as well as celebrity makeup and hair artist Denise Madrigal.

Romero also tagged fashion stylist Rob Zangardi in a post. “Buy the grey version here!!” she wrote. Zangardi founded the luxury outerwear brand AUTER “by drawing on two decades of experience dressing some of the world’s most visible figures.”

Former Miss USA Olivia Culpo, the wife of 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey, also rocked a long faux fur coat for the Wild Card playoff game, which ended with the 49ers taking home a 23-19 win.

She completed her look with a McCaffrey San Francisco Football T-shirt, fitted jeans and a brown belt, maroon gloves and a matching bag as well as pointed-toe boots.
