A man was found dead in his bedroom with injuries to the back of his head and face at a low income housing building in Far Rockaway, Queens, cops said Saturday.
The man, 59, who wasn’t publicly identified, was found by an employee at the Barbara Faron Residence at 20-50 Nameoke Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.
It wasn’t clear how long the man had been dead, but a resident said a janitor contacted cops after smelling a foul odor, according to a resident.
“They were cleaning the hallway and noticed the smell coming from the apartment, that’s how they found him,” said a 42-year-old mom who declined to give her name.
The building houses “formerly homeless people in recovery from behavioral health disorders” along with low-income families, according to information online.
The resident said the man was often heard arguing with a woman who visited him.
“She came back yesterday,” the resident recalled. “She had blood on her clothes. She was all drugged up. The cops took her away.”
An NYPD spokesman said there was nobody in police custody.
The city’s Medical Examiner will determine a cause of death.
